Interview with National Account Manager, Tony Ellington
Welcome to Pure’s blog, where we celebrate the people behind our innovative audio products in our new behind-the-scenes post series. Today, we shine the spotlight on Tony Ellington, our dynamic National Account Manager in the UK. His journey with Pure has been marked by passion, dedication, and a drive to ensure our products delight music lovers everywhere.
Role and Dedication
Tony has been an integral part of Pure for four years. As National Account Manager, he ensures our products reach the right audience and are appreciated for their exceptional quality. He thrives on the excitement of new products and is dedicated to making sure our target market understands and enjoys them.
His commitment is evident in his willingness to go the extra mile—literally: He recalls a memorable day when he drove 500 miles across various cities, including London, Leeds, Nottingham, and Leicester, to present training sessions, set up displays, and attend a strategy meeting. “It was exhausting but incredibly rewarding,” he reflects with a smile. His enthusiasm and hard work ensure that our products are well-received and loved by consumers.
What does a Typical and Enjoyable Workday look like?
The most enjoyable workdays typically come later in the week. By Thursday, he looks forward to the orders placed by the different accounts with excitement. Visiting partnership outlets to see our products on display is always an adventure. The positive reception and interest in new models from the sales staff make these visits worthwhile.
Collaboration and Team Dynamics
Bringing new products to market is no small task, and collaboration between departments is absolutely vital. He believes that the key to PURE’s success has always been human interaction, whether it’s a friendly chat with a partner store’s staff or a roadmap meeting that ensures everyone is aligned. He values a hands-on approach, as it streamlines processes and keeps everyone on the same page. By fostering this kind of teamwork, PURE is well-positioned to continue innovating and reaching new heights.
His Advice for New Team Members
For new team members, he advises getting involved and trusting in their knowledge. “You have more knowledge than you think you do. Don’t be afraid to ask that question.” This mindset has helped him thrive in his role and continuously contribute to the team’s success.
Is there a Life Outside Work? Of course there is!
Outside of work, unwinding by reading or watching TV on weekdays is a favourite way to relax. However, weekends are all about his passion for music. “It’s all about listening to my MUSIC!” he exclaims. Fine dining at restaurants is also part of his weekend plans. He loves to travel and has exciting trips planned to Spain, Italy, Montenegro, Albania, Barbados, Germany, Cyprus, France, Thailand, and Jamaica. “Don’t tell my boss!” he jokes.
Musical Favourites
His love for music is reflected in his all-time favourite go-to songs. Currently, his top picks are
“The World is a Ghetto” by WAR,
“The Way We Were (Memories)” by Gladys Knight, and
“Europa (Earth’s Cry Heaven’s Smile)” by Santana. “I just love that guitar solo!” he adds with enthusiasm.
Proud Moments and Favorite Products
During his time with Pure Audio, he is particularly proud of ranging 15 SKUs in partner stores, so far. This achievement showcases his dedication and effectiveness in his role. When asked about his favourite Pure product, he doesn’t hesitate to recommend Woodland. “It’s a portable digital radio, that is also waterproof! Woodland is versatile, looks and sounds great, it’s the perfect outside companion. I take it everywhere, literally!”
