Interview with Pure´s Product Manager William Marty

Welcome back to Pure’s blog! We’re excited to continue our behind-the-scenes series by introducing you to the creative minds behind our audio products. Today, meet William Marty, Pure’s dedicated Product Manager, whose passion and expertise help bring our innovative products to life. From understanding what our customers need to create designs that fit seamlessly into everyday life, William is key to making Pure’s vision a reality.

Role and Dedication

As a Product Manager, William guides every product from concept to launch, starting with understanding what customers want most from Pure. His role is all about asking the “W questions”—what are customers looking for, what challenges are they facing, and why would they choose Pure? These insights form a vision that shapes every aspect of the product, from design to pricing, all to ensure our products fit perfectly into people’s lives.

What Does a Typical and Enjoyable Workday Look Like?

It might be a bit of a cliché, but no two days are the same for William at Pure, which is one of the things he loves most about his job. Although he often works remotely, he thoroughly enjoys his days in the office at Kings Langley. His ideal workday starts with meeting his colleagues, exploring new product samples, and diving into face-to-face discussions that spark creativity and collaboration. He’s fond of prototyping new ideas and working on product concepts. A perfect day wraps up with listening to his favourite songs on the largest speakers in the office and finishing the day with a relaxing beer at the pub.

Collaboration and Team Dynamics

With a tight-knit team of only eight people, Pure’s product development process thrives on collaboration. Each member brings a wealth of expertise and is not afraid to step outside their role when needed. William highlights that their dynamic often involves constructive discussions where everyone contributes their perspective, leading to better outcomes. Although these passionate debates can be challenging, they are a crucial part of creating exceptional products—after all, diamonds are made under pressure!

His Advice for New Team Members

For anyone joining the Pure team, William’s advice is simple: “Stay open, listen to those with experience, but also quickly build and sharpen your own perspective. At Pure, you are given ownership of challenges, which means it’s up to you to understand the problem, gather data, and work out a solution. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here; instead, it’s about taking initiative, being proactive, and getting buy-in from stakeholders through your ideas and prototypes.”

Musical Favourites

Music is a huge part of William’s life, both at work and at home. Here are some of his all-time favourite tracks that keep him inspired:

Proud Moments and Favourite Products: Finding Joy in Every Milestone

Reflecting on his time at Pure, William is proud of how the company has adapted through significant changes, all while continuing to create high-quality, affordable products. His favourite Pure product is the Moment Charge, which sits proudly on his nightstand. Designed with careful attention to detail, the Moment Charge offers a serene 15-minute beach sound to help William wind down and a perfectly balanced display brightness that doesn’t disturb his sleep. For William, it’s the small touches, like the charging pad that keeps his phone away from doom scrolling, that makes this product special.

William Marty’s story reflects the heart of Pure’s mission—to create innovative products that not only sound great but also enhance everyday life. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes insights as we continue to celebrate the people who make Pure extraordinary!
